1. Slice the baguettes lengthwise.
tip: can be lightly warmed in the oven for extra crispiness.
2. Spread a generous layer of butter (and possibly Dijon mustard) on both sides of the baguette.
3. Distribute the ham evenly on one side. Season lightly with freshly ground pepper.
4. Close the baguettes and press them together lightly.
5. Serve whole baguettes or cut in half as desired.
