1. Cook bacon until crispy in a pan or oven. Let it drain on paper towels.
2. Lightly butter the bread slices and toast them until golden in a pan or a toaster.
3. Optionally, mix the mayonnaise with Dijon mustard for extra depth. Season with pepper.
4. Slice tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
5. Rinse and tear lettuce.
1. Spread mayonnaise on both slices of bread.
2. Fill with lettuce, tomato, and bacon.
3. Cut the sandwich diagonally and serve immediately – optionally with french fries or a crisp salad.
